CPR Plus First Aid runs nationally recognised CPR, first aid and education and care first aid courses at our training room at 18 Station Street, Kogarah, six minutes up Rocky Point Road. Sessions are hands-on throughout: compressions and rescue breaths on adult and infant manikins, training defibrillator use, the recovery position, choking management and scenario work rather than a slide deck and a quiz.

Getting to us from Ramsgate
Our room is at 18 Station Street, Kogarah – about 6 minutes from Ramsgate, straight up Rocky Point Road and into Kogarah, then a right into Station Street. This is the shortest trip of any suburb we cover, and it holds up even in the morning peak.
Ramsgate has no railway station. Kogarah station is the closest, which for most people simply means the drive is easier than the alternative; buses run along Rocky Point Road towards Kogarah and Rockdale if you would rather not drive. There is street parking on Station Street and the blocks around it plus the public car parks in Kogarah town centre – the area is busy from early because of St George Hospital traffic, so allow ten minutes more than the map suggests.

The single highest-value thing a Ramsgate local can do after a course is find out where the nearest publicly accessible defibrillator actually is. Survival from cardiac arrest falls sharply for every minute without compressions and a shock, and along a foreshore the distances are deceptive – a device three hundred metres away in a club, a surf pavilion or a shopping centre foyer is only useful if somebody knows it is there. Clubs, councils and larger businesses around the bay increasingly hold one, and the information is usually on the wall rather than anywhere findable in an emergency.
The course covers using one, and the reassuring part is how little there is to learn: a modern AED talks you through the pads, analyses the rhythm itself, and will not deliver a shock to a rhythm that does not need one. The training exists so that you send someone for it immediately and keep compressions going while it is being fetched and attached, rather than stopping everything to work out how the device functions.

For HLTAID009 the provider states a 12-month certificate validity period. Around the bay most clubs and swim schools treat it as an annual refresher before summer.
