Local training for the St George area, run from Kogarah
The St George area runs from Wolli Creek and Arncliffe in the north down through Rockdale, Kogarah and Hurstville to the Georges River at Blakehurst and Sans Souci. It is dense, it is residential, and it has an unusually high concentration of the workplaces where first aid training is not optional – St George Hospital and the medical suites around it, aged care and disability services, dozens of childcare centres and OOSH services, the schools, the retail strips along Forest Road and Princes Highway, and the swim schools and gyms that dot the whole area.
CPR Plus First Aid is based in the middle of it. Our training room at 18 Station Street, Kogarah is a short walk from Kogarah station on the T4 Illawarra line, which means most of the St George area can reach us without changing trains. Everything we run is hands-on: you practise compressions and rescue breaths on adult and infant manikins, use a training defibrillator, and work through realistic scenarios rather than watching a video and answering a quiz.

Getting to the Kogarah training room from around St George
The training room is at 18 Station Street, Kogarah NSW 2217. Station Street runs off the Princes Highway a short walk from Kogarah railway station, which is on the T4 Illawarra line – so Wolli Creek, Arncliffe, Banksia, Rockdale, Carlton, Allawah, Hurstville, Penshurst, Mortdale and Oatley all have a direct train with no changes. For most of the St George area the train is genuinely the easier option on a weekday, because you avoid both the Princes Highway and the search for a space.
If you are driving, the Princes Highway is the spine of the area and almost every route ends up on it. From the Hurstville and Penshurst side, Forest Road to the Highway is usually quickest. From Rockdale and Banksia, come south on the Highway. From Ramsgate, Sans Souci and Blakehurst, Rocky Point Road or the Highway both work. There is street parking on Station Street and in the surrounding blocks, plus the public car parks in the Kogarah town centre – allow an extra ten minutes on a course morning, as Kogarah is busy with hospital traffic from early on.
Kogarah is also well served by buses along the Princes Highway and Rocky Point Road, and accessible parking and drop-off are available close to the door. If you have a mobility requirement or need to arrange something specific for a participant, tell us when you book and we will sort it out before the day.

The one thing worth checking before you book anywhere in St George
Check whether your employer has asked for HLTAID009 or HLTAID011, because they are different units and one does not substitute for the other. HLTAID009 Provide CPR is the resuscitation unit on its own. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid includes that CPR content and adds bleeding control, burns, fractures, asthma, anaphylaxis, spinal and head injuries and structured casualty assessment. If your role is described as first aid officer, or if you are the person expected to manage an incident from start to finish rather than only perform CPR, HLTAID011 is the correct enrolment.
For anyone working in an education or care setting across St George – long day care, family day care, preschool, OOSH, or a school – the unit usually asked for is HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting, which covers the child-specific content those services are assessed against. Booking HLTAID011 when your service needs HLTAID012 is the single most common and most expensive mistake we see, because it means sitting a second course.

Classes are kept small enough that every participant gets meaningful hands-on time rather than waiting in a queue for a manikin. Our trainers are qualified professionals, several with real-world emergency response backgrounds, and they teach through demonstration, group work and scenarios rather than reading slides aloud.
Because we are local, we are also flexible. Individuals book a published date at Kogarah. Workplaces, childcare centres, schools and community groups anywhere in St George can have a trainer come to them, which is usually simpler than releasing a whole team to travel.

Group, workplace and onsite training
We come to you. For groups, a trainer attends your premises with manikins, training defibrillators and consumables, and runs the course in your own space. This works particularly well for childcare centres in Kogarah, Hurstville and Rockdale, for aged care and disability providers whose staff are spread across shifts, and for schools running a whole-staff compliance day.
What you need to provide is a room with enough clear floor space for participants to kneel and work at ground level, and a realistic headcount. Is the certification nationally recognised?
Yes. Training is provided on behalf of and in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909, so the statement of attainment is recognised by employers and regulators across Australia. RTO 90909 is Allens Training’s registration, not ours.
How long is a CPR certificate valid?
For HLTAID009 the provider states a 12-month certificate validity period. That is why the CPR unit is the one most people in St George repeat every year, even when their broader first aid certificate still has time left on it.
