Finding us from Sutherland
Our training room is at 18 Station Street, Kogarah NSW 2217 – about 19 minutes and 12.9 km from Sutherland, north on the Princes Highway over Tom Uglys Bridge. The route barely deviates from the Highway the whole way, which makes it simple to follow but also means the Highway’s congestion is your congestion.
Below is the drive, the rail option, the parking and what to have with you. For course content and local detail, see the CPR course in Sutherland page.
Driving from Sutherland – about 19 minutes (12.9 km)
- From Sutherland, join the Princes Highway heading north towards Sylvania.
- Continue through Kirrawee, Gymea and Sylvania on the Highway.
- Cross Tom Uglys Bridge over the Georges River into Blakehurst.
- Stay on the Princes Highway through Blakehurst and Carlton into Kogarah.
- Turn into Station Street beside Kogarah railway station. Number 18 is a short way along.
The times shown are indicative only. Traffic conditions between Sutherland and Kogarah change through the day, so confirm your route before setting out for a course start.
Parking near 18 Station Street
On-street parking runs along Station Street and the adjoining blocks, with town centre car parks two minutes on foot. Check the signage: limits are not uniform and enforcement here is active.
Coming by train or bus
Sutherland and Kogarah are both on the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line, so it is a single service with no changes. Sutherland is also served by South Coast line trains, which gives you more departure options than most stations on this route. From Kogarah station it is a two to three minute walk from the Station Street exit.
On a weekday the train is the better choice from Sutherland. The Princes Highway and the Tom Uglys Bridge approach are both slow in the morning peak, and the rail journey is unaffected by either. It also removes any risk of outlasting a time-limited parking bay during a full-day first aid course.
What to bring on the day
- Photo ID – driver licence or passport
- Your Unique Student Identifier. Nationally recognised training cannot be certified without a USI, and it is free to create online before you leave undefined
- Clothing you can kneel in, because the practical happens on the floor
- Any pre-course learning, plus your existing certificate if this is a renewal
Arriving from Sutherland
The Princes Highway does not deviate, which makes the route easy to follow and easy to be caught out by: everything that slows the Highway slows you, and the Tom Uglys Bridge approach is the worst of it. Sutherland has the advantage of both T4 Illawarra and South Coast services, so departures are frequent enough that the train is rarely inconvenient.
Book a course before you travel
Reserve a place before you work out the route. Small classes mean limited spots; the course pages show current dates and the $50.00 / $100.00 / $110.00 fees. For a Sutherland workplace, centre or club, ask us to quote onsite delivery.
