CPR and first aid training for the Eastern Suburbs, run from Kogarah
The Eastern Suburbs side of our service area has a different shape to the rest of it. There is far less rail cover – Maroubra and Botany have no station at all, and the bus network along Anzac Parade and Botany Road does the heavy lifting – and the mix of workplaces is distinctive: the freight and logistics operators around Port Botany, the Sydney Airport precinct at Mascot, the beaches and surf clubs from Maroubra south, and a dense residential belt of schools, childcare centres and aged care services in between.
CPR Plus First Aid delivers nationally recognised CPR, first aid and education and care first aid courses to all of it. Scheduled public courses run at our training room at 18 Station Street, Kogarah – a straightforward run down General Holmes Drive and the Princes Highway, and closer than most people expect. For workplaces and groups, which is how a lot of Eastern Suburbs training happens, a trainer comes to your site with the manikins and defibrillators instead.
The teaching is hands-on rather than theoretical. Compressions and rescue breaths on adult and infant manikins, training defibrillator use, the recovery position, and scenario work built around situations that genuinely occur – a collapse on a warehouse floor, a casualty pulled from the water at Maroubra, a child choking at a centre, someone found unresponsive in a car park.

Getting to Kogarah from the Eastern Suburbs
By car from Maroubra, Anzac Parade to Southern Cross Drive and then the Princes Highway is the usual run – roughly 21 minutes and about 11 km. From Botany it is shorter, around 15 minutes via Botany Road and the Princes Highway. From Mascot, General Holmes Drive to the Princes Highway takes about 13 minutes. All three routes pass through or around the airport, so the afternoon peak and school holiday traffic are worth planning around.
Public transport is less direct than it is elsewhere in our service area, and it is worth being honest about that. Maroubra and Botany are bus-served: you take a bus towards Rockdale or into the rail network and change. From Mascot the trip is clean – the T8 Airport line to Wolli Creek, then a T4 Illawarra service two stops to Kogarah. If you are coming from Maroubra for a full-day course, driving is usually the practical choice.
There is street parking on Station Street and in the surrounding blocks, plus public car parks in Kogarah town centre. Kogarah is busy from early because of hospital traffic, so allow ten minutes more than the map suggests. Accessible parking and drop-off are close to the door – mention it when you book if a participant needs it.

Why the workplace question matters more here than the suburb question
In the Eastern Suburbs the deciding factor is usually not where you live but what your site requires. A logistics operation at Port Botany with heavy plant, forklifts and a public road interface has a very different risk profile to an office at Mascot, and Safe Work Australia’s first aid guidance expects the number of trained first aiders and the contents of the kit to reflect that risk rather than a flat headcount ratio. A high-risk workplace is generally expected to have one first aider for a much smaller group of workers than a low-risk one.
The practical consequence: if you are the person arranging training for a warehouse, a workshop or a construction site, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is almost always the right unit rather than the CPR unit alone, because your likely incidents are crush injuries, lacerations, burns and falls as much as cardiac arrest. If you are arranging it for an office, HLTAID009 may genuinely be enough. Work out the risk profile first, then book the unit – not the other way around.

Training is nationally recognised, provided on behalf of and in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909, with CPR content following current Australian Resuscitation Council guidance on airway, breathing, compressions and defibrillation.
We keep classes small enough that everyone gets real hands-on time. Trainers are qualified professionals, several with genuine emergency response backgrounds, and they teach through demonstration and scenario work rather than reciting slides.
For sites that cannot release a whole shift, onsite delivery is the point. A trainer comes to Botany, Maroubra or Mascot with everything needed and runs the course in your own space, around your roster rather than ours.

Group, workplace and onsite training
We come to you. This is how most Eastern Suburbs training gets done – a trainer attends your warehouse, office, centre, club or school with manikins, training defibrillators and consumables, and delivers the course on site. It removes travel time for the whole team, which for a shift-based operation is usually the entire business case.

Where are Eastern Suburbs CPR courses held?
Scheduled courses run at 18 Station Street, Kogarah NSW 2217. For Maroubra, Botany and Mascot workplaces we also deliver on site, which is how most Eastern Suburbs group training happens.
How do I get to Kogarah from Maroubra without a car?
Maroubra has no railway station, so the trip involves a bus towards Rockdale or into the rail network and then a train to Kogarah. For a full-day course driving is usually more practical – about 21 minutes via Anzac Parade, Southern Cross Drive and the Princes Highway.
Which unit does a Port Botany or warehouse site need?
Generally HLTAID011 Provide First Aid rather than CPR alone, because the likely incidents on a freight or plant site include crush injuries, lacerations, burns and falls as well as cardiac arrest. HLTAID011 includes the CPR content.
What do the courses cost?
HLTAID009 Provide CPR is $50.00, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is $100.00, and HLTAID012 for education and care settings is $110.00. Onsite group training is quoted on participant numbers.
Is the training nationally recognised?
Yes. It is provided on behalf of and in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909, so the statement of attainment is accepted by employers and regulators anywhere in Australia. RTO 90909 is Allens Training’s registration rather than ours.
Can you train staff across multiple shifts at one site?
Yes. For rostered operations at Botany or Mascot we can run more than one session at your site on the same day or across consecutive days so that no shift has to be stood down. Send us your roster pattern with your enquiry.
